Mobile Phones without IMEI Stop Calling After November 30

All handsets without an IMEI number will stop calling on all networks after November 30.
The deadline set by the Central government to operators to stop service to handsets without an IMEI number to expire on November 30.



IMEI is a unique 15 digit number on every mobile phones. It is usually found printed inside the battery compartment of the phone. It can also be displayed on the screen of the phone by entering *#06# into the keypad. To verify the IMEI number one can send a message “IMEI <15 digit IMEI No.> to 53232. Mobile handset owners without IMEI to get a new IMEI from Govt. Approved centers at price of Rs. 199/-. You need to carry ID proof. (Ex: Voter ID Card, Drivers Licences, etc). Your photograph will be captured at the authorized GII service centre, at no extra cost, apart from Rs. 199/-. Do not visit unauthorized shops to get IMEI.
