Mobile Number Portability Now In India

Dear mobile users (India), get ready for MNP (Mobile Number Portability):-).

The much awaited MNP service will be launched on 25.11.2010 in Rohtak, Haryana. The detailed program for the entire country will be announced separately. Now you can change from your current mobile service Provider to another mobile service Provider and keep your cell phone number unchanged.


Activation

Contact Customer Service Center of your chosen new service provider and apply in the prescribed application form. It will take 48-96 hrs to port you number to new mobile service Provider.

Cost

TRAI has put a ceiling of Rs. 19/- on porting charges which the new service provider may collect from the subscriber. (But which is nil in BSNL at present))

What You Get

You can enjoy a better service or tariff plan without losing your current mobile number.

What You Lose
  • Your old SIM card
  • All the products and services you currently activated
  • Unused talk-time, voicemail messages, validity etc will be lost.
Note: There is a 3 month locking period after once you have ported. After those 3 months are over you may request to be ported again.
