How To Book Train Tickets From Mobile Without Internet Connection

Indian Railway to launch a pilot project of ticketing through non-internet based mobile phones from July 1.  You can book rail tickets through SMS or Menu-based dialling.

SMS Based Booking 

  • Send a Booking SMS in specified format with information of Date of Journey, Class , Train Number and Passenger Details. You shall receive Seat Availability.
In the second SMS make the Payment, which can be initiated in either two ways:-
  1. Using Mobile Money Identifier MMID* and one-time password (OTP) as received from Bank for registered Mobile Number.
  2. Using PrePaid Wallet Cards or mWallets.
  • Booking confirmation SMS is sent by IRCTC.
SMS Services are currently offered by Bharat BPOFrequency Weekly and Pyro Group. Check out the links for detailed information.

USSD (Menu-based dialling)

  • Dial designated number, you shall receive a Menu Based Screen dialling. Select 'book tickets' option, select 'reservation' (user is prompted to enter his IRCTC user ID once only), enter details     (date of journey, station, train no, class, etc)
  • Enter mPIN for authorizing payment through mobile wallet
  • Booking confirmation SMS is sent by IRCTC

Airtel has introduced 'Free Zone' powered by Google, a new service that allows you to access  free Google mobile services on the go .



When you use Google+, Gmail and Google Search through Free Zone on your mobile phone without subscribing a data plan. It’s available on most internet-enabled mobile phones. You can access Free Zone using any default phone browser and Opera Mini versions .  The free data usage on Free Zone is available up to a limit of 1GB per month.

New Airtel 2G Data Charges [ Price Drop Alert ]


Happy News for Airtel customers! Airtel slashed data usage charges by 90 per cent for pre-paid subscribers in Punjab and Haryana.

According to Airtel, the Volume Based Charges (VBC) on its recharge vouchers for 2G data usage of three denominations have been reduced to 1 paisa per 10 KB from 10 paisa per 10 KB .

The recharge vouchers of Rs 22, Rs 25 and Rs 125 now gives a free download limit of 125 MB for five days, 150 MB for seven days and 1 GB for 28 days respectively . 

 Validity of Rs. 22 and Rs. 25 vouchers has been increased to 30 days whereas Rs. 125 recharge now gives 90 days of validity.

Earlier, Vodafone had reduced the price from 10 paisa per 10 KB to 2 paisa per 10KB for Karnataka, UP West and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh circles for both pre-paid and post-paid customers using the 2G network.
